Blog Action Day: Climate Change

Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15 that unites the world’s bloggers in posting about the same issue on the same day with the aim of sparking discussion around an issue of global importance. Blog Action Day 2009 will be one of the largest-ever social change events on the web.

I really want to participate in this day, because I feel strongly about this issue. I actually do vote for elected officials with an eye to how they cast their votes and direct their actions regarding climate change. And yes, I believe climate change is really happening.

I don't have much to add to the conversation except to say that I support any action that will facilitate the better stewardship of our earth. I'd like to point my readers to a list of my favorite resources on this topic. I don't know about where you are, but around here in North Texas it has been rainy and icky for quite a while. It's a great time to rent a video or read a book to your child about this very important topic. So here is a list of my favorites, I would highly recommend any of them:
There are many more, but these are just my faves that I can think of right now. Don't forget, you don't have to buy any of these - most are available at your local library for free!

I'm a fan of saving the environment, but I often wonder if people in general focus too much on saving: the earth, pets, animals, etc. and not enough time saving humans? Is there a balance? I feel like if I am going to spend time saving the planet, then I should also spend time spreading the Gospel and helping the homeless and feeding the needy. Then, I get overwhelmed with all of it and I just give up. I think that is what happens in America, we want fast solutions and when we don't see quick results we just give up. But, I think we should do our part and so I do at least recycle and I use Green Mountain energy. It's a start.
